Sorry, I think you are just too late to buy. I believe that the process for registering buyers of tickets is now closed by the promoter

Thanks a lot, Andrew! I just checked trip.com, but currently they don’t have any. What other platforms would you consider as legitimate sources?

I think there’s no chance to buy a ticket at the gates. This race is quite different to all the others, because tickets are personalized. Everyone that buys a ticket needs to provide passport details etc. Entry to the track is via face recognition. So it’s not that easy at all to transfer tickets. For sure you can still look for tickets (last week, trip.com had some), but I recommend only buying from legitimate sources due to what I have said above.

I just learned that I will be in Shanghai next weekend. I am a F1 fan, but simply was not aware that it’s just when the Shanghai Grand Prix will take place.

So my question: Is there any possibility, liken known from concerts etc to buy a ticket there locally in front of the entrances of Shanghai International Circuit? I know it’s basically sold out, but at least in Europe there is always a grey market where you still get tickets – at a higher prices of course. I would need one ticket either for Saturday or Sunday.

Hi Winnie, I’m also going to the race in Shanghai this weekend. Already en route, actually! First and foremost, it’s the responsibility of the ticket company where you bought the tickets to inform you of the process for entering the track. If they haven’t yet done so, reach out to them ASAP. Basically, you should receive a link to a website where you have to enter your information, passport details etc. When that is done and approved, then you should be able to enter the track just using face recognition. Also when that is done, you will receive exact seat details.

I am not sure how the face recognization will work. I did purchase a three day ticket from the F1 ticket website. but I believe I’m only attending to the race for the race day. I am kind of nervous about the firewall and the block of Certain social media as I may not have access to the my email because it’s from Google. Can you please guide me through how the face recognization work do I have to do that over the phone and just enter the venue I’m not sure how this exactly work and I’m a little nervous as I am flying out soon.

J is a General Admission area. This is only sold by the local promoter in China (not by ticket agents like ours). It’s my understanding that all General Admission tickets (including J) sold out within the first 1-2 days when they went on sale in December. I do not know if any more tickets will be released by the promoter.

Hi Matt, thanks for supporting us. Our supplier GPT will be in touch with you closer to the race, probably about 4 weeks beforehand, as they will need your passport details for the personalization of tickets. It should be around the same time that you will receive the actual e-tickets with the specific seats nominated, but be aware that China uses facial recognition for entry to circuit and grandstands.
